WEST ON DEERFOOT
In the winter of 2012 Alastair Humphreys and I trekked for 1000 miles through the Empty Quarter desert. The following year we made a film, and were delighted at the warm reception it got in the adventure world. When we discovered that it has been selected to screen at Banff Mountain Festival, arguably the best and most famous adventure film festival in the world, we knew we had to attend. It seemed silly, however, to travel thousands of miles around the world to watch our own film and then come home again. So we decided to make it more exciting. In November 2014, Alastair Humphreys and I walked for 5 days through the Canadian Rockies, from Calgary airport to the town of Banff. It was a short trip, but ticked all of the boxes of a great adventure - wilderness, challenge, destination and (best of all) fun!
